Automaton Lunch, 10/24/2025 – Harold’s Debug Room

Hey all! My name is Laura Cough, Luke Vincent fan as of today and Internet Lizard’s firstborn daughter. I’ve been given post permissions on this here haroldisavir.us website, so I’m going to be using it to bring you weekly(-ish, with any luck) random and obscure fun facts about Luke Vincent’s titles, from the Willful to Walk!

For today’s post, I’ve decided to start off with something decently well-known.
Harold’s Walk on Steam has a debug room. By entering an upside-down well on the bottom of the Water Tower stage…

…The player is able to access this secret debug room. It consists of a giant Football Field, large, metallic text saying “blah blah blah”, some boost pads, a giant cube, a staircase leading nowhere, and a square of bumpy terrain for Harold to walk on.

It is likely that this debug room was used to test Harold’s interaction with the environment and his moveset, hence the complex terrain and staircase. The level also contains two lone wells at the edge of the field. The one closest to the spawn point is programmed to simply loop back to the debug room itself, meaning it just leads nowhere. The well further from the spawn point is actually programmed to send the player back to the title screen. These two wells and the one in the Water Tower are the only instances of these wells in the entire game, even though they are fully functional, from proper collision to working warp code.
Exiting this debug stage does save it to the player’s save file, making it accessible from the title screen.

That’s all for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading. Join me next week as we take an in-depth look at Harold’s Save File system.
Cough Out.
